Singapore in November: Weather, Events and Is It Worth It
Singapore gets roughly 250 mm of rain in an average November, according to the Meteorological Service Singapore's 1991 to 2020 climate normals, which makes it one of the city's two wettest months alongside December. November is still a good month to go from Hong Kong: the rain mostly comes as short afternoon thunderstorms, hotels sit below their December peak, and Deepavali gives you a long weekend with Little India lit up.
The bigger shock is the temperature gap. You'll leave a dry, pleasant Hong Kong autumn and land in a city that is about 31°C and sticky by mid-morning. Plan around that and the rain, and November works well.
How do you plan a November trip to Singapore from Hong Kong?
Plan in this order: dates first, then flights, then a hotel near the MRT, then the paperwork. November rewards people who think about the calendar and the afternoon weather before anything else.
- Pick dates around Deepavali and the school holidays. Deepavali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, so Monday 9 November is a public holiday, according to the Ministry of Manpower's 2026 public holiday list. Singapore's year-end school holidays usually begin in the second half of November; check the exact start on the Ministry of Education's school calendar, because family attractions get busier from then on.
- Book your flights. Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Scoot fly nonstop from Hong Kong International Airport to Singapore Changi, and the flight takes about four hours. Once your dates are fixed, you can compare Hong Kong to Singapore fares across those airlines in one search.
- Choose a hotel within a short walk of an MRT station. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is Singapore's metro, and in November it's your rain plan: when a storm rolls in at 3 p.m., you want to be underground in two minutes, not hunting for a taxi. Our hotel prices for a first stay page is a good place to get a feel for the areas.
- Submit the SG Arrival Card. The SG Arrival Card is a free online arrival declaration that every traveller must submit within three days before arriving, according to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), 2026. Use the ICA website or the MyICA app and ignore third-party sites that charge a fee.
- Sort data before you land. Roaming on a Hong Kong plan can get expensive fast, so it's worth setting up a travel eSIM for Singapore before you board and switching it on at Changi.
- Pack for heat and downpours. Bring light cotton or linen, sandals or quick-drying shoes, a compact umbrella, sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Add one light layer for the aggressive air conditioning in malls, cinemas and the MRT, and a jacket you can stuff in your bag for the Hong Kong end.
What are the real numbers for November 2026?
Singapore in November means daytime highs around 31°C, night-time lows around 24 to 25°C and humidity that often sits above 80%, based on the Meteorological Service Singapore's long-term climate records. The sea around Sentosa and East Coast Park stays warm, typically in the 28 to 30°C range. Daylight barely changes near the equator, so you get about 12 hours, with sunrise and sunset both close to 7 o'clock.
The rain pattern matters more than the total. Singapore's inter-monsoon period is the transition between its two monsoon seasons, when winds are light and thunderstorms build in the afternoon and early evening; it usually runs through October and November. The Northeast Monsoon, the wetter season that follows, typically sets in around late November or early December and can bring longer spells of rain that last most of a day. So early November tends to mean sunny mornings and a storm after lunch, while the last week is more of a gamble.
On fares, we have to be straight with you: singaporehongkong.com does not track fares on the Hong Kong to Singapore route yet, so there's no November figure from us here. The fare calendar on our flights page will show the cheapest months and days once tracking starts. What we can say qualitatively is that Hong Kong has no public holidays in November, according to the Hong Kong SAR Government's 2026 holiday list, so demand from the Hong Kong side is calmer than around Christmas.
Hotels follow a similar shape. November is shoulder season: busier than the quiet stretches, cheaper than the December run-up to Christmas and New Year. The exception is big conference weeks; the Singapore FinTech Festival is usually held in November and can push up rates in the city centre, so check its dates before you book. If your dates are clear of it, now is a sensible moment to search hotels in Singapore before the year-end rush sets the price.
The annual events worth knowing, all with dates that shift each year (check the Singapore Tourism Board's Visit Singapore site for current dates):
- Deepavali light-up in Little India: the street lights along Serangoon Road usually run from October into mid-November, with bazaars in the weeks before the festival.
- Christmas on A Great Street: Orchard Road's Christmas light-up usually switches on in mid-November.
- Singapore Writers Festival: usually held in November around the Civic District.
- Singapore FinTech Festival: usually in November, good to know mainly because of what it does to hotel rates.
How does November in Singapore compare with Hong Kong?
November in Singapore is about 6 to 7°C hotter and several times wetter than November in Hong Kong. The table sets the two side by side, using approximate 1991 to 2020 climate normals from the Meteorological Service Singapore and the Hong Kong Observatory.
| November | Singapore | Hong Kong |
|---|---|---|
| Average daily high (°C) | about 31 | about 24 to 25 |
| Average daily low (°C) | about 24 to 25 | about 19 |
| Average rainfall (mm) | roughly 250 | under 50 |
| Daylight (hours) | about 12 | about 11 |
| Season | inter-monsoon, turning to Northeast Monsoon | dry autumn |
| Public holidays (2026) | Deepavali, Sun 8 Nov (Mon 9 Nov off) | none |
| School holidays | year-end break usually starts late November | none in November |
The practical upshot: Hong Kong in November is the better walking weather, Singapore in November is the better excuse to eat your way through hawker centres between storms.
So is November a good month to visit Singapore?
Yes, go, but aim for the first three weeks. You get the Deepavali atmosphere, the Christmas lights starting up, shoulder season hotel rates and storms that are mostly over by dinner. The last week brings school holiday crowds and a higher chance of the monsoon settling in, so only push your trip that late if Christmas lights matter more to you than dry afternoons.
What's genuinely best in November:
- Little India around Deepavali. The lights, the flower garlands and the bazaar stalls make this the month to see the neighbourhood. Stay close and walk it at night by booking one of the hotels in Little India, which also puts you on the Downtown and North East MRT lines.
- Gardens by the Bay after dark. The Supertree Grove light show runs in the evening, after the afternoon storms have usually cleared, and the cooler night air makes the Marina Bay waterfront walk pleasant.
- Museum afternoons. Put the National Gallery Singapore, the ArtScience Museum or Jewel Changi in your 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. slot, when storms are most likely. If you prefer someone else to plan the route, there are guided tours and things to do in Singapore that fit the indoor slot well.
- Hawker centres at night. Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat and Newton are at their best after sunset, when the heat drops a couple of degrees.
Skip the afternoon beach day on Sentosa. The water is warm but rarely clear, and a 3 p.m. thunderstorm will chase you off the sand anyway. If you want the beach, go at 8 a.m. and be back by lunch.
What catches people out in November?
Most November problems come from packing and scheduling for Hong Kong weather instead of Singapore's. These are the ones that come up again and again.
- Planning outdoor things for the afternoon. Hotel pools and many outdoor attractions close during lightning alerts, which are common in November. Do outdoor sights in the morning or evening.
- Bringing your Octopus mindset. Your Octopus card won't work in Singapore. The MRT and buses accept contactless Visa and Mastercard cards and mobile wallets directly at the gates, which is the easiest option for a short trip.
- Forgetting the SG Arrival Card. Airlines can ask about it, and filling it out in the immigration queue is a poor start. Do it the evening before you fly.
- Bringing a vape. Possessing e-cigarettes is illegal in Singapore, and the Health Sciences Authority enforces the ban with fines, so leave any vaping device in Hong Kong.
- Ignoring mosquitoes. Dengue is present year-round and the National Environment Agency regularly urges people to use repellent. Wet weather does not help, so pack some and use it in parks.
- Booking blind during conference weeks. If your hotel quote looks oddly high, check whether the Singapore FinTech Festival or another large event is on. Moving your dates by a few days can make a real difference.
- Assuming the whole month is the same. Early November and late November are different trips: one is inter-monsoon afternoons and Deepavali, the other is school holidays and the start of the monsoon.
