Singapore in June: Weather, Events and Whether to Go (2027)

8 min read

You're in Hong Kong and weighing a June 2027 trip to Singapore. June is a good month to go: Singapore sits too close to the equator for typhoons and June is one of its drier months, while Hong Kong is deep in its wettest stretch of the year.

The catch is the heat. Singapore in June is about as hot and sticky as Hong Kong in June, so you're not escaping the humidity, just the typhoon signals and the downpours. Plan your days around mornings and evenings and June works very well.

Check the June numbers before you book

Singapore in June means daytime highs of around 31 to 32°C and nights that rarely drop below 25 to 26°C, according to the Meteorological Service Singapore's 1991 to 2020 climate normals. Humidity stays high all day, so 31°C feels closer to the mid-30s by early afternoon.

Rainfall in Singapore in June is comparatively light by local standards, with showers on roughly 12 to 14 days of the month, according to the Meteorological Service Singapore's 1991 to 2020 climate normals. Rain usually arrives as a short, heavy afternoon thunderstorm rather than a grey all-day drizzle.

June also marks the start of the southwest monsoon, which the Meteorological Service Singapore describes as running from June to September. The southwest monsoon is the seasonal wind pattern that brings "Sumatra squalls": lines of thunderstorms that sweep in from the Strait of Malacca, often before dawn or in the early morning, with strong gusts for an hour or so.

A few more numbers worth having in your head:

  • Daylight: about 12 hours. Sunrise is around 7am and sunset just after 7pm, because Singapore runs on UTC+8 despite sitting further west than Hong Kong.
  • Sea temperature: around 29 to 30°C off Sentosa and East Coast Park, bath-warm rather than refreshing.
  • Flight time: roughly four hours from Hong Kong International Airport to Singapore Changi Airport, on Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific or Scoot.
  • Entry paperwork: the SG Arrival Card is free and must be submitted online within three days before arrival, according to Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), 2026. The SG Arrival Card is Singapore's digital arrival declaration, filed through the ICA website or the MyICA app.

On fares: singaporehongkong.com does not track fares on this route yet, so there's no June figure from us to quote. Once tracking starts, the cheapest month and day will show up in our Hong Kong to Singapore fare calendar. For now, the useful thing to know is that June sits before Hong Kong's school summer holidays (which usually start in mid-July), so it avoids the July and August scramble.

Hotels follow a similar logic. June is not Singapore's price peak; that title belongs to the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix weekend later in the year and to the December holidays, covered in our guide to Singapore in December. Expect mid-range rates in June, firming up on weekends and during big conventions at Marina Bay Sands.

What's on in Singapore in June

Singapore has no fixed public holidays in June 2027. Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day both fall in May in 2027 on their lunar calendars, so check the Ministry of Manpower's official 2027 public holiday list if your dates are near the end of May.

The recurring events that do matter:

  • Singapore's school holidays. Singapore's Ministry of Education mid-year holidays usually run for about four weeks from late May to late June. Local families fill attractions like Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A. Aquarium on weekdays. Check MOE's published 2027 school terms for exact dates.
  • The Shangri-La Dialogue. The Shangri-La Dialogue is an annual Asian defence summit run by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, usually held over a weekend in late May or early June at the Shangri-La Hotel on Orange Grove Road. Expect road closures and heavy security around Tanglin and the top of Orchard Road.
  • Singapore International Festival of Arts. The Singapore International Festival of Arts has run from mid-May into early June in recent years, with theatre and dance across the Civic District. Dates shift annually, so check the festival's official site.
  • Tuen Ng Festival in Hong Kong. Tuen Ng (Dragon Boat Festival) is a Hong Kong public holiday that falls in early June in 2027 on the lunar calendar. It creates a long-weekend spike in outbound demand from Hong Kong. Confirm the date on the Hong Kong government's 2027 general holidays list.

Compare June in Singapore and Hong Kong side by side

June in Singapore and June in Hong Kong are almost equally hot; the difference is rain and storms. Figures below are typical ranges based on the Meteorological Service Singapore and Hong Kong Observatory 1991 to 2020 climate normals.

The rainfall row is the whole argument for going. Hong Kong averages close to 500 mm of rain in June, making it one of the city's wettest months, according to the Hong Kong Observatory's 1991 to 2020 climate normals. Singapore gets a fraction of that.

Plan your June trip step by step

1. Pick your dates around two calendars. Avoid the Tuen Ng long weekend on the Hong Kong side if you want calmer airports, and favour the second half of June on the Singapore side if you care about attraction queues, since MOE holidays usually wrap up late in the month. A Sunday to Thursday trip in mid-June is the sweet spot.

2. Book flights about six to eight weeks out. Without tracked data we won't pretend to know the cheapest day, but you can compare fares from Hong Kong to Singapore for June and see the spread across the month. If the Tuen Ng weekend looks noticeably pricier, shift by a few days.

3. Choose a base with shade and an MRT station. In June you want to be close to a train line so you're never walking 15 minutes in the midday sun. Tiong Bahru is our favourite for a first June trip: low-rise, leafy, full of cafés and a short ride to Chinatown and the CBD. You can browse hotels around Tiong Bahru, or check typical first-stay prices on our Singapore hotels page.

4. Pack for heat, then add one warm layer. Linen or quick-dry shirts, sandals you can walk in, a compact umbrella (it doubles as shade), sunscreen and a refillable bottle. Then pack a light cardigan, because Singapore's malls, cinemas and MRT trains are air-conditioned to fridge settings.

5. File the SG Arrival Card and sort data. Submit the card in the three days before you fly, then land with data already working so you can use Grab and the MRT straight away. A travel eSIM for Singapore set up before departure saves the queue at the Changi kiosks.

6. Build each day around the evening. The best things about Singapore in June happen after 5pm:

  • Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay. The free light and music show in the Supertree Grove runs nightly at 7:45pm and 8:45pm. Go to the later one when it's coolest.
  • Night Safari at Mandai. The best June activity in Singapore, full stop, because the animals are active and so are you. Look at evening tours and Night Safari tickets ahead of time, as weekend slots fill up during school holidays.
  • Sentosa before 10am. Palawan and Siloso beaches are pleasant early, with warm water and no crowds. By noon the sand is punishing.
  • Hawker centres at dusk. Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat and Newton are at their best after sunset, when the satay grills fire up and the temperature drops a couple of degrees.

Skip: Universal Studios Singapore on a June weekday during MOE holidays. Long queues in 32°C heat with half of Singapore's schoolchildren is nobody's idea of a holiday. Go after school restarts, or not at all.

Avoid the common June mistakes

The biggest June mistake is planning outdoor sightseeing for the middle of the day. A walk through the Singapore Botanic Gardens or along the Southern Ridges is lovely at 8am and miserable at 1pm. Schedule museums like the National Gallery Singapore and the ArtScience Museum for early afternoon instead.

Don't write off a morning because of a Sumatra squall. These storms are violent but brief, and the sky often clears by mid-morning. Check the Meteorological Service Singapore's weather app before setting out, and keep the umbrella in your bag regardless.

Watch for haze. The southwest monsoon season can carry smoke from land fires in Indonesia, usually later in the season (August to October) but occasionally from June. The National Environment Agency publishes the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI), a daily air quality reading; if it climbs into the unhealthy range, move plans indoors.

Remember the return leg. If you fly back over Tuen Ng, Changi will be busy with Hong Kong travellers heading home, so price your return to Hong Kong before locking in the outbound. A return a day either side of the long weekend often makes the trip calmer.

Check your passport rules on the ICA website rather than assuming. HKSAR passport holders currently enter Singapore visa-free for short visits, according to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, but the permitted stay depends on your passport, so confirm it for your own travel document before booking.

Finally, don't book anywhere near Orange Grove Road on the Shangri-La Dialogue weekend unless you enjoy security checkpoints.

Go in June, but go for the evenings

Book it. Singapore in June beats staying home in Hong Kong's typhoon and rain season, and it costs you nothing in comfort you weren't already giving up. Aim for mid to late June, avoid the Tuen Ng weekend, stay near an MRT line and save your energy for sunset onwards. If you want genuinely cooler weather, June is the wrong month; look at our January guide instead.
